DD: DD is a lovely little doll. She arrived in June 2008 at 6:00 Am. She was 21 inches long and weighed in at 7.06 pounds. She has my heart-shaped face, lovely flat nose, and pointed chin, along with M’s large eyes with long eyelashes, cherry little mouth and soft silky hair. I cannot wait to see what she will look like when she grows up! Click Baby’s Growth to see her personal stories geared to every stage.
Mommy: Hi, I am DD’s mommy. I dreamed about becoming a mom for 5 years. Now, at last, I am living my dream.
As every other mother on this planet, I want to do well in parenting. I want to have a home tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. I want to provide my child well- balanced nutrition, adequate rest, and bring her up in a complete and affectionate family environment (see Fetal Education, Healthy Pregnancy).
I want to protect her from diseases, infections, injuries and accidents (such as What to do when baby is sick…); I want to keep her away from smoking, alcohol, drugs, and any other self-destructive behaviors and materials; I want to teach her to have morals, to be mentally stable, to be spiritually mature, and to be emotionally balanced; and I want to encourage her to explore her potentiality, to strive for the best and at the same time to learn and accept her own limitations (see Baby Training, Bilingual Baby).
To fulfill all these goals, I need to have absolute commitment, emotional discipline, mental flexibility, the ability to embrace challenges and forgive mistakes, and being comfortable with communication. I am still working on myself.
As to my interests, I love museums and libraries. They are the first places I would visit when I come to a new city. I can stay in an art museum or read in a city library for a whole day without feeling bored. These are the places which bring joy to my heart and peace to my soul.
I also like traveling. There is a Chinese saying “reading hundreds volume of books, and traveling thousand miles of roads”. It means books and life are two excellent resources to obtain knowledge and wisdom.
A little more about me: in a previous life, I was a reporter, editor and assistant director in a provincial TV station in China until adventurous spirit and a full scholarship brought me to the U.S. to pursue Master degree. I have a Bachelor degree in International Journalism and a Master in Communication. I also finished all the classes required for the Ph. D degree.
M: AKA, “daddy” in this blog, M is my husband and DD’s daddy. He is a loving, humorous, honest man of high morals, ethnics and traditional values. He takes good care of his family, our daughter and me.
He is highly intelligent, extraordinary smart, and surprisingly knowledgeable. He is an excellent computer architect and programmer who always bring out the best in coworkers and obtain the greatest value for the company. He is also a book lover.
Is there any fault of him? Yes (nobody is perfect). He is a little bit sensitive and stubborn.
Grandma: Grandma is M’s mother and my mother-in-law. She is one of the most amazing women I have even met. She raised four children, all turn out to be fine and all love and respect her.
As her children grew up, she went back to school in her 30s and had a successful teaching career. Now she is mostly retired, efficiently juggling a part-time job, charity activities, volunteer work, red hat events, bridging, and house chores. She does it all, and she does it all well. She loves books, libraries and museums too.
