Today is the one-year anniversary of Best4Future Blog, a blog dedicated to my baby, with the nickname “DD”, who arrived in June 2008. During the last 12 months, 87 posts were published, recording every major milestone of her growth and development before and after her birth. This blog will keep updating until DD turns to 10.
I still remember that day, November 1, 2007, when I first fount out I was pregnant. I still remember the beaming of the doctor when he came in. He shook my hands and told me, “Congratulations! Young lady, it is positive.”
After telling the whole world about my good news, I began to think: what should I do for this coming baby? Something meaningful and can last for a long time?
One night, I woke up at midnight. An idea suddenly crossed my mind: why not begin a blog, a diary, a website, for this baby, to write down every moment of his/her life, a part of my life?
Being thrilled by this idea, I started to look for suitable domain name immediately. First, I tried names related to “baby”: “healthy baby”, “lovely baby”, “strong baby”, “cute baby”, “smart baby”, “new baby”, “growing baby”, “I love you baby”, and even “rat baby” (since My baby is a rat). All of these names were taken. It seemed some body else shared the similar idea with me.
Then, I tried names with “star”, like “starlight”, “new star”, “starlet”, “bright star”, “little star”, “rising star”, “shining star”, “good star”, “baby star”, “future star”, and other domain names containing “star”. None was reserved for me. It looked like every mother wishes her baby to be extraordinary as I do.
Next, I tried “blue”, since blue is M’s favorite color. I put in “true blue” (I love this name!). Not available. How about “tiger blue” (Tiger is M’s favorite animal)? Taken. Of course, “blue star”, “star blue”, and “great blue”, were all registered.
Frustrated, I thought about what I want to do for this baby. I may not be able to give her a good wealth, but I can give her care, support, help and love as the best I can do. I will do my best to provide her the best of everything, if possible, so that she will have a prosperous future.
Therefore, how about “best for future”? Such a good name! Is it available? I keyed in this name and was so thrilled to find out it was still available. It was there like being waiting for me!
When I wrote down the name “bestforfuture.com”, I thought again. Three words together, a little bit clustered and not easy to remember at one sight.
How about I switched the word “for” with the number “4” and use the name “best4future.com”? It was shorter and easier to remember.
That is the one, I told myself.
Here it is, best4future.com, a website for my baby.
