This month DD made breakthrough in her crawling. She could move one step forward with hand and leg at the same side. She could also sit up by herself against objects. We tried all kinds of strategies to break her bad habit of staying up late at night.
Week 31: DD was up at 3:00 am and didn’t go back to sleep until 4:30 am. M said we needed to take actions to break this bad habit. So this week we kept her up playing until 10:00 pm or even later. This strategy worked. Since she went to bed at a later time, she didn’t wake up at midnight.
She enjoyed the spinach and rice cereal mix. I peeled and ground oranges for her. She looked a little surprised at the first taste, and then she liked it and wanted more. I also gave me mashed banana. The same, first she was amazed by the taste, then she grew into it and demanded more.
She really loved the white grape juice I gave her just for a try. But the juice was too sweat, so I decided to finish it myself.
Week 32: One night DD stayed late until 12:30 am. Both M and me were exhausted, while she looked like an energize bunny. We decided to alter our strategy. I fed her with solid food in a later hour, around 9:00 pm at night. M gave her a nice and warm bath. And then I breast fed her. By that time it was close to 11:00 pm. With solid food and breast milk in tummy, plus a relaxing warm bath, this little energize bunny finally got tired. She slept through the whole night. We kept this strategy several nights in a row. It seemed working.
I also introduced peas to her. Since M never likes eating peas, I was not sure whether DD would accept them or not. I mixed steamed peas with steamed rice, and she scooped them down just fine.
Week 33: Since starting to eat spinach, DD didn’t have bowl movement problems any more. Her stool came out soft, smooth and fast. And she pooped every other day, or once a day. I was very happy for her.
One night, M put his hat on DD. The hat was so big that it coved her eyes. At first, she didn’t know how to take it off. She pulled the brim of the hat sideway, just as she always did when we played peek-a-boo. M held her hand and showed her to pull the brim up, not sideway. She tried. The first trial took her five minutes. Once she successfully pulled the hat off, she burst into laughing. Then she only needed seconds to take the hat off each time.
This week DD made her first forward motion when she practiced crawling. She moved one step onward with hand and leg both on the same side. Then she didn’t know what to do the next. This was a breakthrough.
Week 34: DD could turn 360 degrees with no problem to get whatever direction she wanted. She could easily raise her upper body off the ground. She was preparing for the next big breakthrough.
She liked drinking water from her sippy cup. She could hold the cup with one hand. She could finish a whole cup of water within three days. When I took her cup away, she wined and complained.
She liked the newly-bought infant transmission inflation tub. She smashed water everywhere when taking a bath in the tub. She enjoyed playing with water and made M wet too.
She could sit by herself against the edge of the tub when taking a bath, or a pillow when I took picture for her. Her torso muscle was getting stronger and stronger.
Week 35: DD likes to blow her nose. She must figure out how to clear her nose when it got blocked. She looked cute. When she did that, M and I would blow our noses and made exaggeratingly inhaling and exhaling noises. We all looked pretty silly.
