This month DD had a little bit of a problem with her bowl movements, especially after we introduced solid food. Her stools changed color and odor as soon as she started eating solids. She didn’t poop for several days. Finally, her bowl movements returned to be normal. She also began to practice crawling, another milestone in her development.
Week 23: Early this week DD only had the bowl movement every 4 days. The stool was pasty and smelly. But, at least she had the waste come out. Late this week she pooped every three days, sometimes every other day. Her bowl movements gradually returned to be normal. I was so glad for her.
Also late this week she began to “sing” in her crib whenever she woke up, nice voice!
Week 24: This Sunday DD got sun burned. M felt bad since he thought it was his fault to let her face the direct sunlight too long. Fortunately, the redness on her cheeks faded two days later.
DD likes the teething toy M bought for her. It must feel good on her gums, especially right after it comes out of the freezer. I make sure her hands didn’t hold the toy too long so that she would not get her hands freezer burned.
Her fingers continued to be more and more dexterous. She can easily grab my glasses off my nose. Before I even realized it, she already had the glasses in her hands and was licking the lens, adding another coating onto it.
She also wanted to grab anything that was close to her fingers, such as magazines, newspapers, letters, postcards, and even plant leaves. She was starting to be a baby terminator!
She practiced diligently on her crawling. I showed her to lift her bottom and tummy off the ground. She still needed more time to practice.
This week her bowl movement was finally back to normal. She pooped regularly every other day and sometimes once a day.
Week 25: I noticed DD was a two-faced baby. She was like a little monkey at home. While in public places she became very quiet and reserved. She only smiled at people who smiled at her first. If people looked at her, she simply looked back at them.
This week I began to feed her rice cereal. She liked the flavor. She opened her mouth widely, waiting for the food to come. She had no problem in gulping it down.
Meanwhile she was a messy eater. She sneezed when I just scooped food into her mouth. Rice cereal covered my glasses like something out of a cartoon. At first I laughed. Then M told me to stay cool since laughing might encourage her to continue the behavior. It made sense.
This week DD also found out the secret of the crib bumper. She could lift the corner up to peek whether I was coming or not. She is a tricky one!
Week 26: DD was amazed by the fiber optic Christmas tree. She watched the color of the Christmas lights changing from red, to blue, to gold, to green, and to purple. She looked puzzled at first and then relaxed and enjoyed the show.
She continued to act like a baby terminator. She grabbed the leaves of the plants and pulled them apart. Soon there were broken leaves scattering on the floor. M said we had to stop her; otherwise his favorite plants would not see the next spring.
Her bowl movements seemed to have problem again after we introduced solid food. She didn’t poop for four days. I was quite concerned while she looked fine.
Finally, at the end of this week she had a huge, messy and smelly stool. I was very happy.
I trained her to crawl. I put a blanket on the floor, placed a toy at one end of the blanket and put DD at the other end. She wanted the toy but she couldn’t crawl to get it. So she rolled from one side to the other, zigzagging the way to get the toy.
I also trained her to move toys from one hand to the other. She did it well several times.
