I thought I had managed to control constipation. Obviously I was wrong.
After DD was born, the problem of constipation came back. This time it was much worse than it was during my pregnancy (see Fight against constipation). The stool was pushed out so hard that big drops of blood came along with it. So far I already had bleeding twice during the bowl movement.
I have followed every tip I learned to Fight against constipation: eat a lot of vegetables and fruits daily, eat more soup rather than solid food, drink a lot of fluid, and do a little bit exercise. The problem was still there. Maybe the reason I have constipation this time is I miss the time window to have bowl movement, since at that time I either nurse the baby or rock her to sleep.
Yesterday I had the worst constipation on record. I missed the time window to have the bowl movement in the morning. Then I had no feeling of bowl movement the whole day. Since I just had a big bleeding two days ago, I was afraid the situation would get even worse. I really have no time to afford to go to hospital.
!
I drank tons of water, ate two bananas, two peaches, one apple, and only ate light meals. Still, there was no progress.
Finally grandma suggested me to eat dried plums. She said dried plums were very effective to trigger bowl movement.
Really? No matter what, I was desperate to ease my situation. After eating five dried plums and taking two pills of stool softener, finally I had a small bowl movement this morning and a big one in the afternoon.
I feel much relieved.
The fight with constipation is never ending. Mothers-to-be and new mothers, if you happen to have constipation during pregnancy or nursing, try dried plums. Hope it helps solving your problem too
